I’m Larissa and I support GIRLS SKATE! because I think it’s important to empower girls, to strengthen them, to develop their skills and to fight for equality through skateboarding. It’s also time to fight role clichés that girls experience not only in sports but also in everyday life. For example, I was in a café and a guy asked me if I carry my skateboard just as an accessory. That just shows that he didn’t even think that maybe I really could go skateboarding nevertheless it's still such a male-dominated “sport”. Often we do not realize how the structures and ways of thinking are anchored in our society. And that's why it is so important to question and reflect on them. Skateboarding, for example, has given me a lot of strength and developed my personality and I have realized that I can achieve everything with willpower and stamina. That’s exactly what I wish to all of you out there, that you don't let yourself be defeated by structures or men, that you see that you can achieve everything and you see how valuable, talented and strong you are!
